When I look outside, from my bedroom window I see the city
of Dubai packed with high raised buildings, vehicles of all sorts, dazzling
lights, busy people moving up and down and much more. The city which has given
me many beautiful moments to cherish, a city which will always remain in my
heart.
But miles away, there is a land bestowed with beauty
and serenity by Mother Nature, a country with a large history, made of different
colours and shades, mysterious and unique because of it's culture and
traditions- my country, my home - India.
The smell that
prevails after a shower of rain, the hustle and bustle of the city, the
'chaiwallas' in the railway stations, the autorickshaws and bullock carts, the
celebrations after winning a cricketmatch , the taste of gulab jamuns and
jalebis are so unique and all this makes India so special. These are just few of
those beautiful memories and I am sure it's present in every Indian's heart.
The beautiful rivers, the large patches of green fields, the
tall cocunut trees, hills filled with flowers of different hues are such
mesmerising sights which is such a relief for my eyes which has been used to the
sights that a moribund city life offers.
The Indian food is something which I
cannot avoid from my menu. The mango pickles, crispy dosas and vadas along with
sambar, the delicious items in an onamsadhya, the sweets and etc. makes my mouth
water.
Whenever
I am in India, I feel very happy. It's simply because that's where my roots lie.
The bond which will never break. To be in your own country is a feeling so
special, especially for an 'NRI' like me. We might be living in some big
metropolitan city enjoying all the luxuries it offers but yet we miss
something-our home which is far, far away.....
My biggest wish is to
remove the 'N' out of my 'NRI' status.I want to live in my country, serve her,
be a part of her development, initiate to make a change, support her when she
faces obstacles, to be a part of her journey in transforming into a more
beautiful and better place to live in.
I am waiting for that and I
hope that day comes soon because I really miss my homeland. I really do........
