tFallen Heroes
Rain falls, gushing
into the cracks,
Of scorched earth, dyed red.
A crimson sun descending the
stairways,
Of a crimson horizon. A feast for the starved ravens,
They
flock. Feathers and beaks, a flurry.
The mourning sky sheds her tears,
Lightning, providing brief illumination
To the pale landscape, pale faces
light up.
Short glimpses of those,
Dead serving and saving, fighting
for their homeland, their people,
their future, their lives cut
short,
By the bullet. Night enshrouds the battleground
Faces,
expressions of determination,
And the fiery rage to attain their
object
Frozen war cries at their mouths, As they
Sacrificed every last
ounce of life
For the causes of a million others.
Cruelty. So many
mothers deprived of
Their sons, so many awaiting their
Soul mate’s
return, So many
Little hearts yearning for their fathers.
But with
death, comes the peace
Of understanding, portrayed on each face,
The
knowledge, that they hadn’t fought,
In vain, nay, but
had died for
the better cause.
A knowledge that theirs wasn’t
A life wasted, but one
of the highest worth.
And still as mothers, wives and children
await,
Their worldly ties slowly fade,
And as the drops of rain seep
Into the cracks of the scorched land,
The bloods of a thousand merge,
those of
Allies and enemies, all flow and mix , with the
Gloomy downpour.
And all those brave souls,
Accept the welcoming embrace of death.
